Global Food Security event
11 March 2010, 6pm-8pm, drinks reception with canapés
One Great George Street, Westminster, London, SW1P 3AA
Prof Douglas Kell, Chief Executive of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council on behalf of the funding partners, invites you to hear about a major new food security research programme.
Through excellent research, the programme will address the challenge of global food security– that means producing more food that is safe and nutritious, with less energy, water, chemical inputs and waste, and ensuring this is done in an environmentally, economically and socially sustainable way.
The partners, who include all of the relevant Research Councils and Government departments, will work closely together in a coordinated approach to the major research themes, which are aligned with those of the UK Cross-Government Food Research and Innovation Strategy. These include Economic Resilience; Resource Efficiency and Sustainable Production; and Sustainable, Healthy, and Safe Diets.
