Communications and Public Engagement Group

Food security raises many issues of high public interest in the UK and internationally, not least because it centres on an emotive issue: the food we eat.

Areas of public interest within the GFS Programme's remit include:

  • Production/economics of farming
  • Use of agrochemicals and new technologies
  • Competing definitions of sustainability
  • Equity and other ethical issues around access to food
  • Role of consumer choice
  • Need for healthy diets and safety of food supplies

The Communication and Public Engagement Group engages stakeholder and public opinion on these issues.
